形态描述：直立小灌木，高30-60厘米，除心皮外其余无毛。根木质，粗壮。老枝外皮灰色，有环状裂痕。叶为单叶，与花簇生；叶片五角形，长3-7.5厘米，宽3.5-8厘米，基部浅心形，通常为不等的掌状5浅裂，中裂片近卵形，侧裂片近三角形，边缘疏生缺刻状粗牙齿; 叶柄长2-5厘米。花2-4朵簇生；花梗长达10厘米; 多花直径3.5-5厘米；萼片5-8，开展，白色或带粉红色，狭倒卵形至椭圆形，长达2.5厘米，宽达1.5厘米，无毛，雄蕊无毛；子房有柔毛。花期4月，果期5月至6月。
